MAREC Events Bring Together Members and Legislators in Key MAREC States
As the 2025 legislative sessions begin across the Mid-Atlantic region, MAREC Action has hosted several successful events bringing together lawmakers and members to discuss clean energy policy.
On January 15th, MAREC Action hosted a reception in Richmond, Virginia attended by nearly 100 people, including MAREC members, legislative staff, and 15 legislators. On January 16th dozens of MAREC Action members spent the day talking with legislators at the General Assembly about the importance of passing the solar siting ordinance standards in HB 2438. Virginia is a priority state for MAREC members, and these events are a great opportunity to educate lawmakers in the Commonwealth about policies that will get renewable projects online.

In Maryland, several important energy and reliability issues are being discussed during this year’s legislative session. On January 28th MAREC Action hosted a dinner with members and Senators on the Education, Energy, and Environment Committee in Annapolis to discuss our priorities. The MAREC team and several members spent the days surrounding the dinner in Annapolis meeting with key legislators and staff to advocate for the Abundant, Affordable, Clean Energy (AACE) Act and educate on clean energy issues, particularly energy storage.

MAREC Action has several additional opportunities for members to advocate for priorities and educate lawmakers in February, including legislative meetings in Kentucky and a dinner with members of the Economic Matters Committee in Maryland. These events are a key advocacy and relationship building tool and MAREC looks forward to continued engagement with members and lawmakers across the region.
